The Plan
Have you ever tried to ask GPS to pick your destination for you? It doesn’t work so well. The plan is the key to establishing your destination and setting up some mile markers along the way.
The Work
I’m here to tell you that achieving success doesn’t come without a lot of hard work. You have to earn what you think you deserve. You have to solve hard problems. You might even wind up being the smartest person in the room.
The Growth
You know what they say about all work and no play - it’ll drive you mad. I believe that most growth and perspective comes when you’re able to take a step away from the day-to-day work and recharge those batteries.
That’s it! The philosophy is simple. In the first ten years of your post-college life, you’re laying the foundation for the rest of your career and the choices you make can have a pretty significant impact on your eventual ability to achieve your vision of success. There’s a lot of important stuff that they didn’t cover in school, and I learned a lot of that stuff the hard way. I wrote this book so you don’t have to.
Some of the key topics include things like negotiating a salary and understanding the value of benefits, building your personal and professional brand, creating a point of view and finding your voice at work, and dealing with your colleagues.
